The school musical, Seussical, is a mixture of stories from the Doctor Seuss books put together. Auditions for the musical took place on September 16 and 17 and callbacks were on Friday the 18. They have now picked the cast for the musical and begun rehearsing for it.
The musicals’ cast consists of 42 Buffalo High School students, and it will also involve a few students from Buffalo Community Middle School. Each persons audition required them to sing a solo, do a dance, and read out of the script, or Doctor Seuss book of their choice. The students also have to have an open schedule, and free time after school for practice.
Seussical is about love, friendship, and willing to go after the dreams you dream of. “The music in this musical is considered “rock,” said English teacher Tracy Hagstrom Durant. “But the music is fun, light-hearted and high energy.” The musical consists of many solo acts and big group performances.

When deciding on what kind of theme the musical will be, Hagstrom Durant and Choir Director Mike Walsh decide, the students don’t have a say in it.

Seussical takes place at Buffalo High Schools’ Performing Arts Center on November, 19-21 at 7:30pm and November, 22 at 2:00pm.
