Buffalo defeats Coon Rapids

Dec. 20 — Buffalo’s Boy’s Hockey team lead a stampede to victory over Coon rapids on Saturday evening. The game was held in the Buffalo civic center and it was a battle according to Bison skaters. The players went into the game hungry for victory after tying 3-3 in OT against Orono, the 16th ranked team in the class A division, a few days before.

“We should have won the game against Orono, because Rouse scored six seconds into the game, but one of our players was off sides  The tie got our team riled up and anxious for a win in our next game,” said Junior defense man, Wilson Anderle.

There was one potential problem the Bison faced — skating with the absence of their captain, and widely accepted best player, Senior Aaron Rouse. He was injured in the first period when an opposing Orono player collided with him, dislocating his shoulder for the 4th time since a wake boarding incident a few years ago. He returned in the 3rd period, but he wasn’t himself. “When I came back in the 3rd against Orono I played like crap, so I’m debating playing against Coon Rapids if I’m just going to injure it again,” said Rouse. Despite the pain in the shoulder, Rouse played anyways.

Although Coon rapids is 0-4-1, the bison didn’t count them out of the count. “You never know when a team is going to get hot, so we threw everything we have at them,” said Junior Casey Anderson after the game.

The Bison ended the game exactly where they wanted to be — on top, in their 4-1 victory. The Bison’s next home game will be held this Tonight  playing Bloomington-Kennedy, who are 4-3.  The game start time will be 7 P.M., as usual. If you’re looking to solve that night-time boredom, or just watch a good ole’ game of hockey, get out and show your support for the Bison!
