Boys’ Baseball wins one and loses one against Monticello

The Bison had a remarkable come back against conference team Monticello Magic on Tuesday night’s game. It was the bottom of the 7th inning and the Bison were down 2-6 with 2 outs. Junior J.D. O’Donnell stepped up to the plate and hit in 2 runners making the score 4-6. Then, sophomore Brennan Gilyard hit in 2 more runners tying the score 6-6.  The Bison then went into the 8th inning and Senior Brian Holthaus hit the 7th run in to win Tuesday night’s game.

“We played hard the whole game and didn’t give up,” said Holthaus, “We had some great defensive plays and scored 4 runs to win.”

Buffalo played Monticello again last night with high hopes to win again, but didn’t pull through. The game was 0-0 until the 5th inning when Monticello scored 2 runs.

“The Monticello  pitcher threw a lot of curve balls and a lot of change ups last nights game,” said Junior Caleb Ruter, “We weren’t batting as well as we were on Tuesday night’s game.”

The Bison continued to play hard, but it wasn’t enough to win the game.

“I think we lost because we couldn’t get base runners and didnt produce hits,” stated Senior Holthaus.

The Bison are 8-4-0 and their next game is today at Bentfield Mills ball park at 4:30 p.m.
