Track and Field Season Zips By

The Track and Field season is quickly coming to a close. There are only a few more meets left in the regular season and then the Bison head to Sections and hopefully the State Track and Field meet. There are many Seniors on the team and the team is the strongest it has been in many years.

On Thursday May 7 The Bison will head to Sauk Rapids for the True Team Sections meet. This is a meet where the Section team can run and see what they are going to go up against at the real Section Meet. The Bison have many talented athletes attending this meet and they should make a very strong showing.

Following True Team Sections the Bison will head to Princeton for a Conference meet on Tuesday May 12. They will bring their best line up and try to pull yet another win from the conference bag. There will be some tough competition and the Bison must dig deep and over power the other teams.

On Tuesday May 19 the Junior Varsity Bison team will head to St. Michael for the “Last Chance” meet, where athletes who are on the verge of getting their varsity letter can have one more chance to show the coaches just how much they deserve that letter. The athletes will surely be looking for some personal bests and hope that they made the varsity cut and can earn themselves their own “B” on their jacket.

Later in the month the Bison will be attending the Sectional Meet and Gustavus Adolphus College. This is the meet that the athletes have been training for all year and this is the meet that can make or break a season because it is the bridge to the Minnesota State meet. Athletes will have to show their best performances in order to reach the state meet.

The Bison have many talented athletes and no one can be counted out of the state meet. There should be some very strong performances at all the upcoming meets and it will be exciting to see if the Seniors will go out with a bang. “This is the strongest overall team we have had in a long time, We have a lot of graduating Seniors who will do great things at Sections and State, we will miss their strength, “says Head Track Coach Scott Palmer.
