All Or Nothing

With track season beginning in under a week, many seniors are preparing for their final track season in high school.

“I’m trying to get a lot of vaulting and lifting in,” said senior pole vaulter Mitchell Valli. “I try to do both three times a week so I am ready to go.”

This year will be a special one for these students. It will be the last time they get to wear the purple and white uniform. Along with this realization comes a different mindset.

“I’m going to take it more seriously,” said senior Amanda Letsinger. “I want to make the most of my last year, and I have scholarship money riding on it for college.” “I will work harder,” said Valli.”I’ve worked every year to lead up to this, it’s the pinnacle of my high school career.”

These seniors have realized that this is their last chance to make their mark. Due to this, they have set very high goals for themselves. It’s their final shot.

“I’d like to break some school records in the 100, 200, and high jump,” said Letsinger. “I want to break the state record again,” said Valli. “And making it to the national track meet would be cool.”

Now that the seniors’ track careers in high school are coming to a close, some wish they would have taken a more serious approach at an earlier age.

“I wish I would have put more effort in in the off- season,” said Valli. “Getting in the weight room at an earlier time, may have increased my results.”
