Last day at BHS for Student Teacher Dale Erickson. Next stop: England

Today is the last day that Dale Erickson, Student Teacher for Nicole Gmach’s World Studies classes, will be at BHS. Dale Erickson, 23, who grew up in Baudette, MN (near Lake of the Woods) is currently in his fifth year at St. Cloud State University. He is majoring in Social Studies with an emphasis on Political Science and would like to teach in a high school. He has been teaching here for the last eight weeks.

“It has been really great,” said Erickson. “The school has been very welcoming. The students are great to be with and are eager to learn.”

What inspired Erickson to become a teacher?

“Both of my parents were teachers,” said Erickson. “I also had a AP Calculus teacher who made sure she scheduled one-on-one time with each student. The dedication she had was impressive.”

Erickson will now be heading for England, to continue his degree. He will be teaching at a school called Milais in Horsham, which is about 20 miles south of London. He will be there for eight weeks teaching Humanities, and then will be done with his education degree. However, he will not be done with school after that. He plans to go for a second degree. Good luck Erickson.
