The students here have been really serious with their “clanning”.

According to Senior Jay Bollum clash has become more of a lifestyle than just a game.

“Clash has become more than a game to me, it’s a lifestyle,” said Bollum. “Clash before smash. The B pounders are on the verge of becoming a very prestigious clan due to the hard work our members have put in on to make their village as good as possible.”

Not only do students clash outside of school, but Senior Nolan Triden clashes during school as well.

“Clashing has made my life more fun and enjoyable, I clash all day everyday even in school,” said Triden. “It kind of interferes with my studies.”

Clash of Clans has been a good way to get the competitiveness out in a positive way. It’s a game that a group of friends can play together without being right next to them.

“Clash has brought out my competitive nature I am constantly clashing to try to get my village better than my friends,” said Senior Cameron Sonju.

Clash of clans is a huge impact on some people, you all have to come together in Clan wars because if your clan is not doing so well and you get kicked out of the clan. You might take that to heart and really feel like you don’t match your friends skill and be left out.

“It has made me realize that I have no life, and friendships are lost when your friends leave the clan and start a new one,” said Senior Samuel Ortmann.

Minnesota Academic Sectinoal Champions https://www.hoofprint.net/minnesota-academic-sectinoal-champions/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=minnesota-academic-sectinoal-champions Fri, 18 Apr 2014 17:26:48 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17829 If you are ever in the pizza line you have probably looked in the awards case before, but have you ever noticed that one academic plaque is completely spelled wrong. Apparently we are the Minnesota Academic Sectinoal Champions for Boys Basketball in the 2001-2002 school year. When we brought this to Principal Mark Mischke’s attention he responded with a laugh and said “classic”.

“It is ironic how there is a misspelling on an academic award,” said Mischke. “This is the first time that I have noticed it in the six years that I have been at BHS.”

“I think its sad that they can’t spell it right on an academic plaque, but it is basketball so thats probably why,” said Junior Stephanie Johnson.

Some people on the other hand noticed this mistake right away like Counselor Mark Jones and Assistant Administrator Nicholas Guida.

“I noticed it right away because I am smarter than most people,” said Jones.

“I noticed it when I was standing near by visiting with some people,” said Guida.” I saw that Boys Basketball was academic champs in 2001, but the first thing that popped out at me was that sectional was spelt wrong. I thought that it was ironic having sectional spelt wrong on an academic award.”

Sarcasm, or Scandal? https://www.hoofprint.net/sarcasm-or-scandal/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sarcasm-or-scandal Thu, 27 Feb 2014 17:34:33 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17197 Reid Sagehorn a Senior at Rogers Mn, High School, a Captain of the Football and Basketball team has been accused of sending a sarcastic tweet confirming allegations made that he did inappropriate relations with a Gym Teacher at Rogers High School. Students at Buffalo shared their opinions.

“I think that it is cool that the community is working together to get him back in school,” said Senior Josh Robinson.” Because he got suspended for a stupid reason.”

“I dont think that he should be expelled I think that he was just being kind of sarcastic,”said Sophomore Mariah Hovland.” So I don’t think that it should be as big of a deal as people are making it.”

“There is probably a lot of thing that people don’t know,” said Sophomore Ben Zitur. “Like honestly everyone just assumes that they can expel somebody for nothing they have to have the facts.”

“I think he just should have apologized in the beginning and I think if he would have apologized for saying his sarcastic comment or whatever it was that he had made that everyone was so upset about,” said Junior Jessica Gabrelcik. “I think that his punishment would have been a lot less severe and it would have been a lot less harsh because he would have been accepting what he has said. Even if he thought that it was just a joke, it wasn’t a joke to her (the teacher), if he would have sent a sincere apology to her I think things would have been more lenient I think its been taken too far.”

“I think it’s a good thing he is expelled because you cannot just joke about that stuff,” said Sophomore Emma Simonson.

“I just think you have to be so careful on what you put on social media because it can be interpreted so many different ways,” said Junior Michaella Magaard. “We don’t know exactly what’s going on because we hear opinions for students.”

One Act Play Stars at State https://www.hoofprint.net/one-act-play-stars-at-state/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=one-act-play-stars-at-state Fri, 14 Feb 2014 19:05:44 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17058 The Triangle Factory Fire Project this years one act play, placed in the Section five AA finals and went to state on February 13, 2014. The judges awarded the the cast with the star performance rating. This is their first star performance rating since 2005. The one act play has made many appearances at state throughout the years.

“Yes I have gone to state before,” said Senior Michael Capps.” We went my freshman year and sophomore year. I am excited that I get to go again in my senior year  because I wanted to be able to go to state at least once more since we got disqualified last year.”

Rules for a one act play is that you have to cut down the original script to 35 minutes or less, and that you only have ten minutes to set up, then ten minutes to take down and it has to be in a ten by ten square.

“The cutting of the script is the hardest part, because we have to cut out lines and figure out which is the best to keep,” said Capps.

Students Deciding on Post Secondary Options https://www.hoofprint.net/students-deciding-on-post-secondary-options/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=students-deciding-on-post-secondary-options Mon, 03 Jun 2013 17:42:54 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=16172 “I wanted the full High School experience. I wanted to be able to participate in Homecoming

week and I wanted the opportunity to take classes as an upperclassman with certain teachers. I

wouldn’t have been able to do any of that if I had gone Post Secondary,” said Senior Erika Voeller

Every year, High School Students have to decide whether they want to take all their classes in a

classroom or to do them online. Post Secondary Education is an option where Juniors and Seniors have

the option of enrolling in college courses to do online that will give you credits towards College.

You would only come to school for half of the day, so you would be missing out on a lot of the

things that your class is doing.

“I decided not to do Post Secondary because I wanted to finish out my senior year with my

class,” said Senior Bailey Hanson. “I think that we have enough college classes at our school where it

wouldn’t have helped me get a head start.”

National Center for Education Statistics says that 40% of PSEO students said that they were

working to get a Bachelors degree.

“I want to go Post my Senior year because I want something different. I am almost done with

my classes at Buffalo High School and I want to go to Medical School so it would get me a head start,”

said Sophomore Taylor Susa.

In order to be able to go Post, you have to be in the upper one half of your class or score at or

percentile on the ACT or SAT.

“I’m not going to do it because I am not in the top percentile of our class.” said Sophomore

Hannah Leino. “If I was in the upper half, I think that I would have chosen to do it.”

Nearly 25,000 High School Students got College credits from 31 colleges and universities last

“I liked PSEO, and I think it was definitely worth it. Just make sure you’re taking classes that are

actually going to be useful. Like classes that will count as generals where you want to go to school,” said

former Post Secondary student Erin Johnson.

The hunt for Summer jobs is on https://www.hoofprint.net/the-hunt-for-summer-jobs-is-on/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-hunt-for-summer-jobs-is-on Wed, 29 May 2013 18:28:12 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=16110 As school comes to an end, there’s a growing demand for teenage employment. The hunt for a job isn’t always as easy as it might seem, especially if there was no previous experience in the job field. Many students find themselves applying at places they don’t have any desire to work at, because they are running out of options.

Another factor that plays into the difficulty of getting a job is the fact that college students are released for the summer before we are, which allows them to have the ability to work more hours than the students that are still stuck in school.

“I think that jobs will be limited because they would rather have older college students who have experience than new workers,” said Sophomore Cassie Sawatzke.

There’s a price that you have to pay when trying to balance school as well as a job during the school year.

“It’s really hard to juggle school and work with sports also involved, because you need to get enough hours to pay for stuff,” said Sophomore Anna Demgen.

As a result of the stress of working too many hours while still attending school, students are forced to choose between hanging out with friends or getting paid.

“You have no life, you have to pick either a social life or money,” said Sophomore Kenzi Laumann.

On the other hand, some students don’t have a problem finding a job while lacking any previous training.

“I didn’t find it difficult getting a job without having experience, the first place I applied I was hired at within a day,” said Sophomore Mallory Ross.

True Team Section Champions Once Again https://www.hoofprint.net/true-team-section-champions-once-again/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=true-team-section-champions-once-again Thu, 23 May 2013 18:30:10 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=16026 Ltrack-thumbnailast year with a surprising victory at the True Team Sections the boys made it to True Team State and they are at it again.

Even though the weather conditions impacted many spring sports this year, the boys still believe that they have accomplished a lot with the little time that they had.

“I believe that I will be prepared, the distance team especially worked very hard. We    practiced in the rain, snow and ice whatever the weather was we were always working,” said     Senior Michael Swearingen. “It did suck but it paid off making it to True Team State.”

For some athletes this is their first year running in True Team State. Getting closer with the coaches and team have helped many athletes this year.

“It feels like I made a lot of progress from my freshman year and that Emmel thinks more of me now compared to last year,” said Sophomore Blaze Solberg. “It was a big opportunity to run in True Team Sections and make it to state my sophomore year.”

Being a coach and having to get everybody prepared in time for meets can be stressful, but you have to rely on the athletes to do as best as they can even with the obstacles they had to encounter with to get where they are.

“I think that they will do fine I’m looking for the best performances from our team, but every other team is in the same boat that we are not having the best season due to weather conditions,” said Head Coach Scott Palmer.

The result of the meet wasn’t as good as the team had hoped for. The boys came in 7th out of 8, but are still hoping for the best when it comes to sections and state.
