Girls’ Hockey finishes season with a loss to Minnetonka

The Buffalo Girls’ hockey team had a dramatic overtime win last Saturday afternoon in the first round of sections against Wayzata to send them into the second round of sections on Wednesday night, where the Bison faced off against the Minnetonka Skippers for the second time this season.

On Tuesday, November 23, the two teams played at Pagel Ice Arena in Minnetonka, where the Skippers beat the Bison 5-0, scoring 4 of the goals in the third period.

On Wednesday night, the top ranked team in state Skippers scored 4 goals in the first period and went to the locker room with a monster 4-0 lead.

Minnetonka came out at the start of the second period and added 2 more goals, increasing their lead to 6-0. Buffalo held the Skippers off the scoreboard  the rest of the period, and trailed 6-0 after two periods of play.

The Bison got their first goal of the game just a couple minutes into the third when junior Lexie Magaard scored on the power play with assists from Bekah Wright and Laurel Prodahl, making the score 6-1. Neither team was able to score the rest of the way, finishing the game with Minnetonka up 6-1, while out shooting the Bison 39-14.

The loss ends Buffalo’s season, where they went 19-8 overall, while going 8-0 in the Mississippi 8 Conference.
