Seniors are going to have to step up and lead their team. The softball team is hoping for the best.

“I think we will do pretty well,” said Senior Haley Prim. “Just because we lost only two seniors. Just about everyone on the team has varsity experience. Overall I’m thinking we will have a better record than last year.”

Girls Track and Field is looking forward to their season.

“We will do better than last year because we didn’t lose many girls,” said Senior Amanda Letsinger. “We have a lot of consistancy with our relays and that’s where we score most of our points. We work more as a team than as individuals.”

Girls lacrosse is going to try and come back after losing 11 seniors.

“We’re going to have a young team this year,” said Junior Sydney Martichuski. “There is going to be a lot of development occurring this year.”

How are Boy’s Sports going to do this year? https://www.hoofprint.net/how-are-boys-sports-going-to-do-this-year/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=how-are-boys-sports-going-to-do-this-year Wed, 13 Mar 2013 17:10:51 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=15155 Even though the snow isn’t melting, the anticipation for boys spring sports is heating up. Seniors are getting ready for their final year and are looking forward to see how their team will do. The track team has big hopes for this years season.

“I think our boy’s team is going to be better than it has been in a while,” said Senior Tyler Olson. “If we win conference this year it will be the tenth season in a row.”

The baseball team did not lose many seniors.

“Lot of experience coming back, so should do pretty well,” said Senior Jared Wycoff. “Four seniors lost, but also got some possible new talent  coming in.”

Boys lacrosse has a different look on how their season will turn out.

“We are growing, but we still have a ways to go before we are a fully developed team,” said Senior Zack Phillips. “We are very excited to get going though, as the newest school sport in Buffalo.”

Senior Andy Hartung would like to have a great last year.

“I’m hoping for a conference title,” said Hartung. “And possibly a run a state.”

If you could be any celebrity, who would you be? https://www.hoofprint.net/if-you-could-be-any-celebrity-who-would-you-be/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=if-you-could-be-any-celebrity-who-would-you-be Wed, 20 Feb 2013 18:28:11 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=14917 The percentage of people in the world who eventually become famous is estimated to be about 0.0265 percent. Do you ever wonder what it would be like to be a famous celebrity? Tom Kruse, Mariah Carey, Lebron James, etc. What do you think it would be like to live their life?

“I would be Jennifer Anniston,” said Senior Haley Prim. “She is like 40 years old, she is still gorgeous, she has never been in a scandal, and is just talented.”

Many students aspire to be like celebrities because of things they can relate to. Senior Adam Hartung is a country music enthusiast.

“No doubt in my mind I would be Toby Keith,” said Hartung. “He is a great singer and a patriot. He loves America and I respect that.”

Other students would like to have all of the privileges and material goods that a celebrity has.

“I think it would be cool to be Justin Bieber,” said Senior Ethan Fabel. “Have you ever seen the picture of him and the Victoria’s Secret models? He’s got the money, cars, women, houses and he’s still young.”

Principal Kris Thompson has a different view on being a celebrity.

“I’m not willing to give up my personal privacy for money,” said Thompson. “Everything you do as a celebrity is watched. People make judgements about you and your family all the time.”

Boys Hockey Doesn’t Suck Anymore https://www.hoofprint.net/boys-hockey-doesnt-suck-anymore/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=boys-hockey-doesnt-suck-anymore Wed, 06 Feb 2013 17:48:08 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=14534 With two games left in the year, boy’s hockey already has three more wins than last season. After losing to the Monticello Magic on February 2, they have five wins and two losses in conference and are currently in first. The last time that they won conference was in 2009. Since then Buffalo has yet to put out a winning season.

“We have a younger team that isn’t as experienced but more disciplined,” said Senior Joe Hayes. “I feel that if we win conference we will play better in sections because we will have more confidence.”

This season compared to last shows a big difference in how Buffalo, as a team, has improved.

“We have played better because we have a lot of chemistry on the ice,” said Junior Justin Laven. “The players and coaches have really stepped up their game.”

The Bison have one more game against Cambridge-Isanti. A win against them would clinch a conference title.

Finals Week https://www.hoofprint.net/finals-week/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=finals-week Thu, 31 Jan 2013 05:46:17 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=14266 Students can’t wait for the quarter to be over. To get their new classes, and be done with the old ones.  But it comes with a price. Homework, projects and final tests consume the last week of the quarter.

“Finals week is the best week of the year!” Said Junior Lauren Thielen sarcastically. “It’s super stressful and you have to do a lot of studying or you will fail.”

Some of the students like to look at the brighter sides of it.

“I think everyone agrees that final week is awful.” Said Senior Katie Rooney. “But there is some good that comes out of it. It is a great way to learn how to deal with the stress.”

“Finals week is obviously stressful and I don’t get as much sleep as I should.” Said Sophomore Blaze Solberg. “After school I like to take naps to help ease the stress and catch up on lost sleep.”

One Million Dollars and One Week https://www.hoofprint.net/one-million-dollars-and-one-week/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=one-million-dollars-and-one-week Wed, 16 Jan 2013 17:11:54 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=14031 If you knew it was your last week, and I handed you one million dollars, how would you choose to spend it all? Some people with one week left would choose to do some stupid things but others have realistic goals.

“I would buy a plane ticket.” Said Senior Katie Rooney. “I’d want to travel the world and experience all that’s out there.”

“I would get all the important people in my life together and try to set them up.” Said English Teacher Tracy Hagstrom-Durant.”After that I would go to Disneyland or Hawaii because I’ve never been to either of those places before. After that I would go screw around with the remaining money.”

“I would buy a cool car and go skydiving.” Said Senior Andy Hartung. “Skydiving is something I’ve always wanted to do.”

“I would take my family and all of my friends on a cruise.” Said Junior Josh Robinson. “After the cruise they could take the remaining money and distribute it between them.”

What Makes a Great Teacher? https://www.hoofprint.net/what-makes-a-great-teacher/2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=what-makes-a-great-teacher Wed, 09 Jan 2013 17:38:01 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=13979 A good teacher is able to prepare their students for the upcoming tests. What does it take to make a great teacher? Many students at Buffalo High School have teachers or staff members that they really enjoy being around.

“[Physical Education Teacher] Jason Karn is a teacher I really look up to,” says Junior Sam Ortmann.  “He always does what needs to be done and he always leads by example.”

Others like a certain teacher because they make the school day a little easier.

“I like Counselor Mark Jones,” said Junior Casey Anderson. “He helps me through school gets me into classes I need to be in. He makes it a little less stressful. I can walk by him in the hallway and crack a joke.”

“A great teacher will be a person that a young adult can look up to and aspire to be like one day,” said Junior Levi Bean. “They will show someone the attitude to go through life with. For example, [Math Teacher] Emily Greeley is just as much a life coach to me as a math teacher. I think that is what makes her a great teacher.”

Recent snow and ice has cars (and new drivers) in ditches https://www.hoofprint.net/recent-snow-and-ice-has-cars-and-new-drivers-in-ditches/2012/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=recent-snow-and-ice-has-cars-and-new-drivers-in-ditches Thu, 20 Dec 2012 17:14:38 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=13703 There was a two-hour delay issued for Buffalo as about nine inches of snow fell on Sunday, December 9.  The driving conditions were not good and people were finding themselves getting stuck in driveways and ditches. The days that followed brought even more ice and snow.

Around the high school there are a lot of new drivers and this will be the first real snowfall that they’ve had to deal with. Some students ended up leaving their car at home and took the bus to school.

“I’m not driving in this!” said Junior Natalia Velenchenko. “I’m not a very good driver, and I especially don’t like driving in snow. Besides, I can do my homework and get stuff done on the bus.”

Many students have found their way into a ditch one way or another.

“I was just going straight,” said Junior Sam Ortmann. ” And I ended up in the ditch.”

Others have had other issues.

“I was taking a corner and hit the brakes,” said Junior Levi Bean. “I ended up going straight into another car.”

Why is Christmas time so hectic? https://www.hoofprint.net/why-is-christmas-time-so-hectic/2012/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=why-is-christmas-time-so-hectic Thu, 20 Dec 2012 17:12:14 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=13590 Christmas is supposed to be a jolly time of the year where stress and worry are non-existent.  When the holidays come around and Christmas is nearing, all of the plans you have seem to mash together and create a stressful environment for everyone. People tend to spend the most money around this time even though we’re in a bad economic situation. Parents are trying to make a it a perfect time of the year for their children and also for their in-laws.

“It’s not all about you,” said English Teacher Tracy Hagstrom-Durant. “You have to think about what is going to be the best for both sides of the family. You’re running all over and it gets really expensive.”

There are events to go to and parties to attend. This can not stop someone from doing things that they have to do. Christmas is a hectic time but a persons life has to go on.
