The definition could be described as ” the upper thigh region of a male, that happends to be very pasty.” Guys are out and about all of the time in the Summer getting their tan on, and unfortunately for all of us their thighs don’t recieve the tan.  This is known to make a lot of girls uncomfortable….

“It makes me super uncomfortable and it’s gross,” says junior Sabrina Kumlin. “It’s weird especially because my legs are the opposite, tan thighs and pasty calves.”

Guys can’t help these milky legs, they can’t exactly strut around in short-shorts like us ladies. Although it’s not the best look they have had to come to terms with their pastiness.

” I love a good pair of milky legs. I have a pair myself, and I think they are the milkiest legs in the whole school says junior Trevor Bengston (who is featured in the middle of the picture above). “I don’t have that good of milky legs, I’m Asian. I would say my legs are like a chocolate milk,” describes junior Sam Krone (pictured left in the picture above). Usually these pearly legs come from sports or working outside in the summer junior Sam Therrien‘s milky legs (pictured right in the picture above) are from his baseball season “You can’t help it, unless you want to wear short-shorts I guess.

Some of the older cats (Mr. Schneider) wasn’t aware of milky legs and it had to be explained. “Well, I don’t show my milky legs in public if that’s what you mean. If you sit down your shorts ride up and you automatically have milky legs, so I don’t know what to tell you.”

There is no cure for milky legs, unless short-shorts or speedos are an option. We will try our best as a society not to judge you for your pasty thighs… no promises.

Free the Pits https://www.hoofprint.net/free-the-pits/2015/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=free-the-pits Mon, 01 Jun 2015 16:57:38 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=19944 Girls are expected to smell like flowers and rainbows, but that’s just not the case anymore. Believe it or not, girls actually sweat, just as much as boys in fact! Sweating has been happening since dinosaurs, but what hasn’t been happening is women using men’s deodorent. So how did this start?

“I started using men’s deodorent because I sweat like a man, and it’s necessary.  I actually started using it in 6th grade, because of my Hyperhydrosis.  My favorite brand is Old Spice Sport and I also use my perscription deodorent (but that usually gives me a rash),” says junior Alexandra Kurre.

In our generation girls are starting to do things differently, countless times girls have talked about over production from the sweat glands. But, there is a cure.. for some.

Junior Hannah Studee says “I use Dove Men Care (extra fresh).  Women’s deodorent smells gross, I don’t like it.  I started using it when my younger brother hit puberty, the smell is so much better.”

So what is the male take on this situation?

“It’s fine. It smells better than girl deodorent anyways, I get tired of smelling flowers,” explains junior Jordan Thielman.

Girls, you don’t have to be embarassed about your sweaty pits anymore, there is a solution. Try using men’s deodorent, it might be a life-changer. If not, you’re screwed.

Prom: How Early is too Early for Nerves? https://www.hoofprint.net/prom-how-early-is-too-early-for-nerves/2015/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=prom-how-early-is-too-early-for-nerves Wed, 25 Mar 2015 17:05:18 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=19596 From March to May most juniors and seniors have one thing on their mind, prom. Lately every conversation seems to lead to the topic; dresses, dates and promposals.  Even though it seems so far away, people seem to already have pre-prom jitters. Should prom really be causing this much stress on students?

Martin’ Pastor (foreign exchange student from Equador) is feeling the pressure. “I haven’t asked anyone yet, so I am sort-of stressed.  I don’t know forsure who or when I’m going to ask a girl.  I’m excited for the dancing, but it’s not really the same in America. I only plan on spending three hunna and two pennies.”

It is pretty obvious that girls have more to stress about than boys do.

“I’m stressed, it’s costly and there is a lot of pressure to look good,” says junior Livia Koehler.  “I’m most nervous for Grand March, because I don’t want to trip and rip my dress.  The most exciting part will be the party bus and the dancing; girls will have more fun because they can act like a slore without being shamed for it. I plan on spening about $300 on everything.”

While as others, not suprisingly a guy, don’t feel the stress at all.

“I’m feeling good, I don’t really care. I’m not nervous, I know my date will say yes, junior Jordan Thielman says confidentally. “The good food makes me really excited. I will have enough money from Arby’s to afford everything.” Jordan also happens to be oblivious to what you need for prom, “what flowers? You need to get girls flowers?”

Two months doesn’t seem so far away when all the nerves continue to build up.

The New Obsession with Eyebrows https://www.hoofprint.net/the-new-obsession-with-eyebrows/2015/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-new-obsession-with-eyebrows Fri, 13 Mar 2015 17:03:07 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=19448 Some of the talk on Twitter and Tumblr lately hasn’t been what most people would expect.  The latest trend isn’t about “thigh gaps” or “big bootys,” it’s eyebrows.  Posts on Vine, Twitter, and Snapchat have been using the phrase “eyebrows on fleek,” which explains how “bomb” your brows are. To some people eyebrows are a very important feature.

Senior Hannah Studee seems to think eyebrows have a impact on how people see you.  “Eyebrows are very important, they frame your face and eyes.  If you’re missing eyebrows, it’s like missing your mouth.  You would look weird.  You need eyebrows to make your face.  I spent about 30 minutes once a week shaping my brows, but daily only like five minutes.” Even though eyebrows are important, even the people that really care don’t know where the trend came from. “I think the big thing with eyebrows came from make-up and clothing trends, but I’m not really sure.”

While others are obsessed, some could care less.

“I think the trend got started from people with bad eyebrows (unibrows).  I don’t think they are that important, they don’t represent who you are,” says senior Emily Pierce. “I spend zero minutes on my eyebrows, never touched them.”

Some people are completely oblivious to the trend of eyebrows.

“I didn’t know there was an obsession with eyebrows,” says senior James Braatz.  “If people’s eyebrows are really bad I notice, but otherwise I can’t tell the difference.  There are definitely not one of the top-five features, but if you didn’t have them you would look whack. I guess people are obsessed with them because they want to look good?”

Although eyebows are important now, who knows what the next trend will be.

Drinking Age: 18? https://www.hoofprint.net/drinking-age-18/2015/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=drinking-age-18 Mon, 02 Mar 2015 17:59:50 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=19310 In the 1980’s a law was passed to set the drinking age to 21 to lower the rate of drunk driving accidents.  Still, today the drinking age is 21, however there has been contemplation on whether the drinking age should be lowered to 18.  This law is being considered to lower the amount of college rape.  American 18 year olds have the right to marry, buy guns, and join the military.  So, why not be able to drink?  We asked students at BHS their opinion on this topic.

“I think it’s debatable, because people drink before they’re 21 already so why not,” says senior Abby Becker (who is 18).  “It could be problematic, there are 18 year olds that could buy alchohol for younger kids (like freshman).  It could turn into more “party-central”, this would cause students to have to be more responsible.”

Though it could cause problems, could it actually be a positive thing?

“It would actually be better. When people are 18, they will wait because it will only be one year or so away.  They wont have to risk getting in trouble, and there won’t be such a rush” says junior Luke Merz. “It could cause problems because not everybody is responsible enough, and that could affect the school negatively.”

Despite the good and the bad, nothing is set in stone about this possible upcoming law.

Parents and Stress https://www.hoofprint.net/parents-and-stress/2015/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=parents-and-stress Tue, 24 Feb 2015 18:23:42 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=19113 The school year can seem endless with all of the responsibilities we have. School, jobs, sports, and piles of homework, and inbetween we are supposed to have time for a social life. It’s basically nine months of juggled time.  That’s enough stress all on its own, but we also have parents always chiming in and giving their sometimes unwanted opinions. Whether you are the oldest, youngest, or only child parents always want us to do our best.

“My parents stress me out and it doesn’t help me at all, it doesn’t get anything done faster or better, it’s just annoying,” says senior Lauren Kaminski who is the youngest of 3.

“I don’t think my parents realize that they are stressing me out, they just keep going and going until I freak out.  I know they don’t mean to but it bugs me all the same,” says junior Chelsey O’Donnell. “I am an only child though, so they don’t have anything to compare me to which is nice.”

Parents aren’t intentionally trying to stress us out, they are just trying to help us reach our full potential. Although it’s not always easy to have our parents nag and nag it’s nice to know that they care.
