JV Girls soccer vs. Monticello

On Wednesday October 7th, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. Buffalo JV girls soccer played Monticello. The game had been delayed from October 6th due to poor weather.  This was one of the last games for the JV season so tensions ran high.

“This was going to be a huge game,” said sophomore Michelle Lang, “Monticello is one of our biggest rivals and we beat them last time 1-0, so they really wanted to win.”

The game, which ran to 6:20, ended in a tie 1-1. Monticello scored the first goal early in the first half. The Monticello defense successfully stopped Buffalo from scoring until far after half time. Tensions ran high as the game progressed and three yellow cards were issued to the Monticello team. Minor foals were called against both Buffalo and Monticello throughout the game. In the last 20 minutes of the Game Audry Gilbert scored against Monticello tying the game up.

“We were all really worried by half time,” said sophomore Sabrina Dahl, “As the game got closer to ending we were frantic, but in the end we were able to stop Monticello from beating us. I’m disappointed we didn’t win, but we had a great season And it didn’t end in defeat either.”
