Softball Done at Sections…

After Buffalo Bison girls softball ends their season with a successful record of 14-5, they end up falling out of sections with a record of 3-2. Losing to Shakopee on their first trip down to Mankato, where sections were held, and then losing again to Mankato East on Saturday took them out of sections.

“We had a great season and a great run at sections,” says team capitan Kristin Jeske. “I’m not disappointed at all. I’m very proud of this team.”

The softball team is having an alumni game and banquet on Tuesday, May 25th at 4:00pm.

Softball wins last five games…

Buffalo Bison Girls softball has really turned their season around with a five game win streak going. Winning their last five games against Monticello, Zimmerman, St. Michael-Albertville, and a double-header against Princeton our Bison softball team has really been working hard. With their last five games they have changed their record from 3-5-0 to 8-5-0, and are now 2nd in confrence.

“I think that since we’ve been working mainly on our hitting we’ve been doing better. Our defense is still strong it was our hitting that was killing us, and since we’ve worked on that we’ve pulled it together,” said Senior starting pitcher Miranda Speckel.

Their schedule this week looks tough with games Tuesday May 5th against Becker (1st in confrence), Wednesday May 6th against Annandale, and a game Thursday May 7th against Waconia. Tuesday and Thursdays games will be held at home with Wednesdays game being held in Annandale. Hopefully our Bison Softball team can keep up the wins!

Softball team finshes out week with a win…

Our Bison softball team has had a busy week of games. Playing three games already this week and one more coming up our Bison softball team is hoping for one more win. With a win against Cambridge-Isanti and Rogers so far this week they are hoping to cap off the week with a win against Shakopee on Saturday April 25th at 11 o’clock at Buffalo High School. They have one loss against Big Lake whom they played on Tuesday April 21st.

We hope you will attend the softball game on saturday against Shakopee. Last year the team won agaist Shakopee 1-0 in Shakopee. It is a home game at Buffalo High School at 11:00pm.

Buffalo Bison Softball team kick off season…

Our Buffalo Bison softball team has been practicing for about a month now, and got their first game in yesterday, Thursday April 10th. Although they lost their game against Zimmerman 2-1, getting their first game in is always exciting for the girls. “Getting outside and getting the first game in always feels good. To get rid of your nerves about the first game is relieving,” said senior Dani Iverson. Although Bison got the first run of the game with Danielle Goodfellow scoring, she also pitched the game, they fell behind after Zimmerman got a couple good hits and mis-played bunts came into play. A disappointed loss for the Bison girls, they are ready to come back full force Monday April 13th against Monticello. That is a home game played here at Buffalo High School at 4:30pm.

Brad Zrust has many new ideas for Girls Softball for the upcoming year

Girls softball gathered for a meeting last Wednesday to talk about the upcoming softball season. With past years’ assistant coach Paul Anderson, chemistry teacher at Buffalo High School, not participating this year they will have many different challenges.

“Some new challenges this year will be participating as a team and having new coaches step up this year,” said Rian Anderson, senior at Buffalo High School.

With coach Anderson leaving, last year’s JV coach Michelle Macalena was asked to step up and become Varsity Assisstant caoch. With some major changes this year, the sport will be different for everybody. They are looking forward to starting the new season and hopefully getting off to a good start.

Wrestling moving on to individual finals

With Senior Captain David Baker leading them, the team got pumped for the meet against St. Cloud Apollo on Saturday February 21st. Although the team lost and will not be attending state as a team a few wrestlers stood out against St. Cloud.

Nick Vinar pinned his opponent at 1:39 before the match ended in 6 seconds. James Neddermeyer came back and pinned his opponent while losing. Some team hopefuls for individuals at state are Daivd Baker, Zach Smith, Nick Vinar, James Neddermeyer, and Mike Simeon.

The section tournament begins at noon with Mike Simeon wrestling first for bBffalo at 112 on Saturday February 28.
