The students here have been really serious with their “clanning”.

According to Senior Jay Bollum clash has become more of a lifestyle than just a game.

“Clash has become more than a game to me, it’s a lifestyle,” said Bollum. “Clash before smash. The B pounders are on the verge of becoming a very prestigious clan due to the hard work our members have put in on to make their village as good as possible.”

Not only do students clash outside of school, but Senior Nolan Triden clashes during school as well.

“Clashing has made my life more fun and enjoyable, I clash all day everyday even in school,” said Triden. “It kind of interferes with my studies.”

Clash of Clans has been a good way to get the competitiveness out in a positive way. It’s a game that a group of friends can play together without being right next to them.

“Clash has brought out my competitive nature I am constantly clashing to try to get my village better than my friends,” said Senior Cameron Sonju.

Clash of clans is a huge impact on some people, you all have to come together in Clan wars because if your clan is not doing so well and you get kicked out of the clan. You might take that to heart and really feel like you don’t match your friends skill and be left out.

“It has made me realize that I have no life, and friendships are lost when your friends leave the clan and start a new one,” said Senior Samuel Ortmann.

This Weather Sucks! https://www.hoofprint.net/this-weather-sucks/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=this-weather-sucks Thu, 08 May 2014 17:08:38 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17993 The amount of snow and rain that we had last year was outstanding. Tom Bauman, our athletic director, didn’t think so.  Last year we had snow that went all the way up to the first of May, and it took quite some time for the snow to melt.  Buffalo got over three feet of snow last year and this year we are almost pushing six feet.

If the weather keeps up this week with the constant rain, this will add more changes and cancellations, pushing over 200 changes for this years spring sports. These changes are varied from umpires, track workers, lacrosse officials, etc

“The amount of High School sports cancelled in Buffalo is going to beat last years amounts,” said Bauman. “I thought this could never ever happen.”

A majority of the kids who are playing for Buffalo High School are hating all this rain.  Usually their games and practices are getting cancelled, and the games they do have to play are on the wet, rainy, cold fields.

“Being in track and having to run outside on the windy and rainy days is pretty miserable,” said Junior Reed Morehouse.

“Play golf is not the funnest thing in the whole world but it gives me a challenge on working with the wind,” said Junior Gunnar Goodmanson.

Minnesota weather has been up and down, from 70 degrees and sunny to 35 degrees and chances of snow all within a weeks span.  Keep your head up who knows what will await ahead of us.

Most Memorable Teachers (According to Seniors) https://www.hoofprint.net/most-memorable-teachers-according-to-seniors/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=most-memorable-teachers-according-to-seniors Thu, 08 May 2014 16:51:29 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=18038 As the end of the year is approaching, all you seniors are preparing to graduate. Whether you’re going to a local college, or one in another state, chances are you won’t be seeing these people very often anymore. Saying goodbye to teachers can be very bittersweet. Who will stick with you in your memories as you leave high school and enter college?

“McCallum has always been there to talk to about anything. We have really great discussions about life and society in general. I can go to him to talk about anything,” said Jessica McMullen.

“It would be Mr. Karn. He stuck with me since freshman year, pushing me to be a better athlete and a better person,” said Samuel Ortmann.

“McCallum is definitely my favorite teacher. I can talk to him about everything. This quarter I’ve had him for 3 out of the 4 classes and I still don’t get sick of him. He’s a very unique person and he’s fun to be around,” said Alyssa Baldwin.

“Urdahl is definitely the most honest! He will joke around with me because he knows I can take it, and he can be very encouraging when he wants to be,” said Regan Miller.

“I can’t possibly pick just one, I have had many teachers throughout my time at BHS so far. They have all impacted me in a way,” said Taylor Susa.

“I’ve like a lot of the teachers here, but I’d have to say one of the teachers I’ve connected with the most has been Knutson. I’ve has him 3rd block every day for 4 years because of concert orchestra. We’ve spent a lot of time together and because of that, we have an amazing relationship,” said Maria Hanson.

“I can’t pick a favorite teacher. If I had to I’d say Consella or HD. Consella’s a great teacher, and HD is hilarious. At the beginning of her class she warned us that she was gonna be swearing in class, and when she does it’s so funny,” said Casey Anderson.

“Greeley has been like a personal counselor for me for my part 4 years of high school,” said Cambria Daniels.

“My favorite teacher is Mrs. Greeley because she is always positive and I can never leave her classroom with a bad attitude,” said Kharli Fisher.

“Mr Guida has had the biggest impact on me during my high school year.  He always motivates me to do my best, and is just a good guy. He’s like a second dad to a lot of people,” said Jordon Carlson.

If you hate the stairs, you’re not alone https://www.hoofprint.net/if-you-hate-the-stairs-youre-not-alone/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=if-you-hate-the-stairs-youre-not-alone Thu, 24 Apr 2014 16:49:18 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17920 (This story may be a bit dramatized. Viewer discretion is advised.)

The struggle is for real; What Buffalo High School students have to go through is breathtaking, leg aching, joint crushing, and sweat producing. The 22 step climb to the top can be one of the hardest things a student at BHS will have to experience throughout their day.

“Its my max exercise for the day.  I’m so winded when I go up and down the stairs, it’s definitely the most exhausting part of my day,” said Senior Presley Rumsey.

“People are running a marathon right now and I’m having troubles walking up a flight of stairs,” Freshman McKenna Kunesh.

“I stop and take a break, or I just slow down really really slow and make my way up. My legs get heavier as the trek goes on,” said Junior Sydney Warehime.

“Sometimes I have to check my pulse when I finally reach the top. I always watch my legs flex as I walk up,” said Junior Sydney Driver.

“I get leg cramps everyday of my life from those horrid stairs,” said Senior Casey Anderson.

“I use the railing to lift myself up and still have to take breaks and catch my breath,” said Sophomore Callie Liska.

“It hurts a little inside every time I get to school, knowing that I have to climb those stairs at some point during the day,” said Senior Michael Otten.

“It’s one of the biggest struggles of mankind. THE STAIRS,” said Senior Mason Cox.

“I feel like a fat piece of crap when I walk up the stairs. You’d think being in long distance would help and make it easier for me, but no it still is one of the hardest things,” said Junior Reed Morehouse.

“I bet Reed Morehouse feels violated because everyone probably stares at his hot butt as he walks up the stairs,” said Junior Maverick Flesher.

“I think we need the stairs, otherwise we’d be one fat school,” said Sophomore Jacob Jones.

Sarcasm, or Scandal? https://www.hoofprint.net/sarcasm-or-scandal/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sarcasm-or-scandal Thu, 27 Feb 2014 17:34:33 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17197 Reid Sagehorn a Senior at Rogers Mn, High School, a Captain of the Football and Basketball team has been accused of sending a sarcastic tweet confirming allegations made that he did inappropriate relations with a Gym Teacher at Rogers High School. Students at Buffalo shared their opinions.

“I think that it is cool that the community is working together to get him back in school,” said Senior Josh Robinson.” Because he got suspended for a stupid reason.”

“I dont think that he should be expelled I think that he was just being kind of sarcastic,”said Sophomore Mariah Hovland.” So I don’t think that it should be as big of a deal as people are making it.”

“There is probably a lot of thing that people don’t know,” said Sophomore Ben Zitur. “Like honestly everyone just assumes that they can expel somebody for nothing they have to have the facts.”

“I think he just should have apologized in the beginning and I think if he would have apologized for saying his sarcastic comment or whatever it was that he had made that everyone was so upset about,” said Junior Jessica Gabrelcik. “I think that his punishment would have been a lot less severe and it would have been a lot less harsh because he would have been accepting what he has said. Even if he thought that it was just a joke, it wasn’t a joke to her (the teacher), if he would have sent a sincere apology to her I think things would have been more lenient I think its been taken too far.”

“I think it’s a good thing he is expelled because you cannot just joke about that stuff,” said Sophomore Emma Simonson.

“I just think you have to be so careful on what you put on social media because it can be interpreted so many different ways,” said Junior Michaella Magaard. “We don’t know exactly what’s going on because we hear opinions for students.”

One Act Play Stars at State https://www.hoofprint.net/one-act-play-stars-at-state/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=one-act-play-stars-at-state Fri, 14 Feb 2014 19:05:44 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=17058 The Triangle Factory Fire Project this years one act play, placed in the Section five AA finals and went to state on February 13, 2014. The judges awarded the the cast with the star performance rating. This is their first star performance rating since 2005. The one act play has made many appearances at state throughout the years.

“Yes I have gone to state before,” said Senior Michael Capps.” We went my freshman year and sophomore year. I am excited that I get to go again in my senior year  because I wanted to be able to go to state at least once more since we got disqualified last year.”

Rules for a one act play is that you have to cut down the original script to 35 minutes or less, and that you only have ten minutes to set up, then ten minutes to take down and it has to be in a ten by ten square.

“The cutting of the script is the hardest part, because we have to cut out lines and figure out which is the best to keep,” said Capps.

Balancing Fun and Academics https://www.hoofprint.net/balancing-fun-and-academics/2014/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=balancing-fun-and-academics Thu, 06 Feb 2014 18:25:42 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=16780 Students squeeze through the small hallway leading down to the gym, for some they are going to a phy- ed based bison time, but for Junior Kirsten Olson she is going to the new bison time balance club instructed by science teacher James Didier.

“Balancing on exercise balls in my bison time is very fun, “said Junior Sydney Driver. “But I am looking forward to the unicycling and slacklining as well.”

Didiers bison time is jammed packed with good vibes and a few different activities, slacklining, unicycling, and getting your balance on an exercise ball.

“I have lots of fun with the people around me and everyone tends to have a smile on there face,” said Driver. ” It’s nice that no one laughs at you when you fall.”

Its not the average Bison time study, its interacting with the people around you and working your core by getting a little exercise in, at the end of the day.  Didier got interested into unicycling in high school, and throughout college at the U of M.

“I learned how to slackline in college,” said Didier. “The U of M offered a slacklining club where I met a various amount of different but unique people that I got along with.”

Slacklining is a rope tied to two points, with a little slack down the middle, making the rope to tend to be a little bouncy.  There is high lines and water lines, high lines are higher up in the air and water lines are over water.  It takes a lot balance and core strength to get across the thin rope that is moving back and forth, along with up and down.
