The class of 2018 has 8 more days of high school https://www.hoofprint.net/the-class-of-2018-has-8-more-days-of-high-school/2018/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-class-of-2018-has-8-more-days-of-high-school Fri, 25 May 2018 19:41:13 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=22835 Senior Carson Dickie can not wait to walk out of the doors of BHS.

“As my final days of high school come to an end my body is erupting with excitement as I will finally escape the tight grip of oppression that this hell hole grabbed me with on the first day of school,” Dickie said.

Others though are trying to cherish their last few weeks as a high schooler. Seniors are starting to realize what only 8 days left really means. Elias Uecker has mixed emotions along with a few other seniors.

“I am extremely excited to be done with high school and move on to the next chapter of my life,” Uecker said, “but I’m also sad because I will miss all of the friends that I have made.”

“I am going to miss the relationships that I created with my teachers and peers. I can’t wait for what is to come, but it is bittersweet to leave the community,” said Senior Ali Tokkesdal.

Senior Kari Zumach leaves to go play Volleyball for Creighton in a week, so she only has 4 days left of high school.

“I am so ecstatic for the adventure that lies ahead,” Zumach said, “but it is going to be really hard to not be able to finish out the school year with the rest of the senior class. I will already be attending college and training for my sport so I will not get one last summer with all of my friends. This is a huge opportunity and blessing but you really don’t realize how much you love high school until you have to leave.”

Senior Claire Stevens said “I am eager to be done in 8 days, but I will miss my friends, the amazing teachers, and all of the wonderful opportunities BHS has brought me. I am both excited and nervous for what my future will bring.”

Peter Deneen leaves high school with his photo on the Hall of Fame wall, and he said leaving BHS brings mixed feelings.

“It is definitely a mix of emotions. I am ready to be done and move on to the next stages in life, but at the same time it is going to be tough leaving all of my friends and teachers,” Deneen said.

The Bison have had a victorious spring when it came to competing. Although Athletes had to endure snow in April the Bison spring sports have not allowed that to mess with their spring season. Most of the sports teams will be looking to wrap up their regular seasons within the next week.

Softball

Each team has had their fair share of victories. Softball is 14-2 and have been lead by their seniors all season. They just beat Big lake in a double header and will be hosting Chisago Lakes Friday night in their last regular season game.

Baseball

Baseball had a double header with Big lake, they won one game and lost the other. Their record is 7-6, and they face Minnetonka on Saturday at home for the Sam Munoz Memorial Game.

Lacrosse

Boys and Girls lacrosse teams both defeated the St.Cloud Tech Tigers on Thursday night. The girls are 9-0 and have three more games before their regular season comes to an end. They host Mound-Westonka Friday night. The boys have two more games until sections begin and are 7-3. Their next game is on Monday against Ricori.

Boys Tennis

The boys tennis team finished their regular season 7-8, they beat Princeton and lost to Wayzata this past week. Their next match is individual sections on Wednesday 5/23 at the University of Minnesota.

Track and Field

Track team competed at Big Lake this past week and has had major strides as a team and will be traveling to Monticello this Wednesday for their Conference meet.

Golf

Girls golf has won every Conference meet this season and is planning to keep their success rolling at their next meet on Monday at Wild Marsh. Boys golf lost to St.Michael by one point on Thursday, but plan to bounce back at their meet at River wood on Monday.

2018 Girls Lacrosse Debut https://www.hoofprint.net/2018-girls-lacrosse-debut/2018/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=2018-girls-lacrosse-debut Thu, 10 May 2018 18:25:03 +0000 https://www.hoofprint.net/?p=22684 The Bison Girls Lacrosse team opened the 2018 season with an undefeated record of 5-0 and a new coaching staff by their side. New Head Coach Peter Robson is joined by Assistant Coaches Tony Johnson and Ed Nue. Robson has been coaching high school level club teams for the past seven years and has led these teams to many State Championships. However, this will be Coach Robson’s first time coaching a high school team that is not club organized.

The new season brings new goals, and each player took time to outline what they want to accomplish this season. Along with the players, head Coach Robson has goals of his own for the team. “We hope to help the girls feel confident in their ability and to have fun while improving,” Robson said, “but we also want them to develop as lacrosse players and young women. If we do those two correctly the ultimate goal is to win.”

Coach Robsons experience makes him a great addition to the coaching staff, and Captain Danika Tweten is among those who are excited.

“His expectations are high for our team, and he is encouraging us to play as a team rather than just having one person do the work,” Tweten said.

The Bison are going to be playing as more of a unit this season, and Captain Claire Stevens is eager to help the team come together to achieve success. Each player has to buy into this system and trust that Coach Robson will lead the team in the right direction.

Robson strongly believes in this group of athletes that he gets to call his team. “The girls have the desire and the will to win,” Robson said.” They are all extremely talented athletes and are starting to realize when they work together they can be unstoppable.”

As the season progresses the team aims to keep working together and playing as a unit in their remaining games. “As a coach my job is to bring out the potential that has always been there,”  Robson said.

Coach Robson is doing something right, even if he is just leading them in the right direction. Their goal of working as one has helped them beat Monticello and Hutchinson. Those are two of the stronger teams they will face this season. The Bison plan to keep building off of each game, and keep their momentum going into sections.
