Spring sports start; high hopes for Track & Field

As spring sports are starting up, high hopes remain for the track and field team. The boys track team won the state championship in 2009 with returning state competitors such as: Jerome Begin, Dillion Miller, Dan Petit, Blake Solberg, Josh Wedemeier, and Jon Wedemeier. The girls are hoping to have a stand out season with some returning talent from last year and new talent coming in.

“I am very excited for this season because of incoming talent with freshmen and sophomores and returning seniors,” said senior Jerome Begin “I am pretty sure our team will do very well and we will send a lot of teammates to state.”

Opening days:

March 14: Boys and girls track and field and softball

March 21: Baseball and boys and girls golf

March 28: Boys and girls lacrosse and boys tennis

This will be the first year of the boys and girls lacrosse team being a school sport. In the past it has just been a private club.
“I’m glad were a school sport. It’s going to be a challenge for more people I think,” said senior Garrison Elsenpeter, “i like the competition we think we’ll have and hopefully be decent enough to keep up.”

There are a lot of returning members in each sport. High hopes are set for every group with hopes to be sending teams off to state in June.
