Girls’ Basketball beats Minneapolis South in their first meeting in 20 years

The Bison Girl’s Basketball team beat Minneapolis South 48-70 last night in the first meeting between the teams since 1991.

The last two time Buffalo has played Minneapolis South was in 1990 and 1991. Buffalo lost both games with scores of 32-58 and 46-53. Head Coach Scot Sorenson was very pleased with the win and hopes the season continues to keep going this way.

” Minneapolis has had a lot of success the last 5 years,” said Sorenson. ” I knew they had some new players so I was pretty unsure of what we would see. I was really proud of our defense for greatly reducing their score opportunities throughout the game.”

Seniors were happy to see another win to their record and Senior Jamie High was especially happy after the pep talk from Coach Sorenson.

” Sorenson hyped it up so much saying ‘The past 3 years Buffalo has won over 80 games ‘, ” said High. “It really got us pumped to win.”

Some were even nervous because of the background of Minneapolis South has had in the past. Senior Audrey Gilbert was surprised on how much the program at Minneapolis South has changed.

” I wasn’t very surprised at first about how well we were playing and more how bad they were. I was very nervous, but I was happy to see that we played very well and very aggressive.”
