Knowledge Bowl Wins, Dick Bremer in Attendance

The Buffalo Knowledge Bowl team won their eighth meet of the year Saturday morning at Rogers High School. However this win was overshadowed by the presence of Minnesota Twins announcer, Dick Bremer.

“I was so happy getting [the opportunity] to meet Dick Bremer,” said senior Matt Feinberg. “He’s my favorite announcer, and I consider him a hero.”Bremer acted as special guest reader for the meet. His booming voice and sense of humor made it a fun experience for those in the room.

“He was definitely the best reader we’ve ever had,” said senior Nate Spanier. “He was very easy to understand and made answering the questions fun.” The reasoning for Bremer’s appearance was due to him being the father of a Rogers Knowledge Bowl participant. Whether due to his appearance or not, the Buffalo team won the meet over 2nd place Rogers 102-98.

“We usually win by [more] points,” said Spanier. “But it certainly helped us overcome our loss [at Moorhead] last Wednesday.”

With this win, the Buffalo Knowledge Bowl team improves their record to 8-1, increasing their lead in the conference.

“It felt good afterwards,” said senior Jonathon Hank. “Not only did I get to meet Dick Bremer, but I got to win a trophy too.”

The team’s next meet will take place Tuesday March 1, once again at Rogers High School. With a win, Buffalo can clinch their sixth consecutive Mississippi 8 Conference title.
