The New Wilderness Project students team with Rogers to explore cultures

Tthe New Wilderness Project took their first field trip in three months On January 7; an all day field trip to Discovery Elementary School. The group paired with students from Roger High School and spent the day reading poems and participating in ice breaking activities.

The New Wilderness Project is about learning how to communicate with other people and understand how they are feeling and where those feelings come from.  The students learn how to deal with situations that usually could be frustrating. They use what they have learned in school with others and outside of school.

” I have learned how to talk to people without trying to put them down because of what I think,” said Senior Valencia Ingram.

The New Wilderness Project’s name stands for going out and doing thing s that students are not use to doing and not familiar doing. It is like going out into the wilderness and experiencing everything to the fullest and learning to handle things in the way that will only make a situation better.

The New Wilderness Project is organized by Vicki Cary. They do not have meetings regularly but do participate with a lot in school.
