Buffalo Knowledge Bowl Team Wraps Up Their Season with Fourth Place Finish

The Buffalo Knowledge Bowl Teams wrapped up their season on March 18 at their regional competition. The Varsity 1 team finished in their division at fourth place, just a few points shy of advancing to the State level.

Even though the season ended with the outcome the Knowledge Bowl team didn’t hope for, Head Coach Tracy Johnson is staying optimistic for next season.

“We saw a lot of players gain lots of confidence, and learn how to deal with people a lot better this season.” She said. “Next year I’m really looking forward to this year’s freshmen just owning the JV level.”

With a strong junior core, the Varsity level of competition will be much more fun to watch next season, as the group’s maturity will certainly be shown at their competitions.

“This year’s juniors have been doing Knowledge Bowl and Math Counts with each other since like fourth grade,” Johnson said, “so next year really should be the icing on the cake for them.”

After having to say goodbye to her senior members on the team, Coach Johnson had a message for them.

“To our seniors, you’ve become family,” Johnson said, “and everything you have learned I am so proud of, and everything you’re about to do I’m so excited for.”

With some people questioning whether or not they should commit to the Knowledge Bowl team, Coach Johnson hopes that anyone looking towards joining keeps in mind that competitors aren’t your stereotypical students.

“Knowledge Bowl isn’t just for smart kids, or the kids with straight-A’s. A lot of our best players are quick-thinkers, they’re witty. We need people of all different kinds of knowledge on our team.”

With hopes of a state-visit next year, Coach Johnson and her team are looking forward to what they can bring to the table against tough competition.
