Pippin

This years musical “Pippin” performed by Buffalo’s Theatre Department was a big success. Many people attended to see our local performance and the performance even won an award. They got the “Outstanding Achievement” award in musical theatre; this award means that our musical department will have the opportunity to perform Pippin again at the State Theatre on June 12th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“This is Minnesota’s high school version of the Tony awards,” said Tracy Hagstrom Durant (HD) the head director of the Buffalo Theatre Department. “This is the highest honor we can get for musical theatre.”
“You gotta have kids be successful because, success breeds success”,
said HD as she explains how she has led such a successful team for so long and how she looks at it from a mindset aspect. Buffalo’s Theatre Department is undoubtedly one of BHS’s most successful activities and that isn’t excluding our sports teams.
This year the Theatre department will graduate quite a few seniors leaving lots of room for the younger kids to see how they can do next year and really opening up our department. When interviewed the cast said that this was a regular show for them.
“I would say it’s a crowd pleaser”, said senior Emily Twardy,
Pippin was just like any other show for our Theatre team and it won an award, Which really speaks about the excellence of what they do. The BHS Theatre team is one of the best in the state and that won’t likely change soon so if you haven’t seen one of their shows I highly recommend you take advantage of their talent and go check them out.
