Golfers Looking to Make a Run at State

Minnesota High School Golf is always presented with obstacles early in the season as players struggle to find somewhere to practice. Oftentimes practicing outside doesn’t become an option until late in the season, considering it’s hard to find your golf ball when it’s buried in a foot of snow. However the players have been very fortunate this year, getting the chance to compete in their first meet at Pebble Creek on April 15th.

“It was a cold start to the season, but at least we were able to get out on the course this early,” said Junior Jake Ramsey

Co Captains Senior Hunter Bruhn and Junior Gunnar Goodmanson look to lead the way for the bison this year. There are high expectations for the team, with all former varsity players returning from last year.

“If we peak at the right time, we definitely have a chance to go to State,” said Bruhn. Goodmanson agreed, adding that as long as each player shoots what they’re capable of, he has no doubt that they could make a run.

With the team consisting of all upperclassmen but one, Sophomore Ben Zitur has some added pressure.

“Surprisingly I’m not that nervous,” said Zitur. “I have experience playing varsity from last year and I’ve improved throughout the time in between.”

The Bison took second place out of five teams at Pebble Creek. It was a good start to the season, setting them on the right track for a chance at State.
