Varsity Girls Soccer 2-1 Over Apollo

The Varsity girls soccer team had a game on Saturday at 11 a.m. It was only about 50 degrees outside. During warm-ups the girls had on anything they could to keep them warm. The first half was close as Apollo scored late on a penalty kick that was just out of the reach of goal-tender Sarah Spande. The Bison had the ball in their offensive zone a lot during the first half but they just couldn’t punch it in.

In the second half the Bison came back out with some intensity and fire. They knew they needed to score and thats exactly what they did. Juniors Shana Roberts and Olivia Haggerty both scored a goal as the Bison beat Apollo 2-1.

“This win was pretty important,” Said junior defender Maddy Aguirre, “The last time we played them they played pretty physical and we wanted to get them back by beating them at home.”

The Bison are 9-6-1 this season and they are in first place in the Mississippi8 with a 5-2 record against conference opponents. Their next game is against Monticello on Tuesday at home and the last regular season game is against St. Michael at home. Both games are very important for the Bison. They need to win to stay at the top of the conderence and to have a high seed in sections.
