What Am I Doing With My Life?

There are a lot of  things happening in people’s lives. In the midst of all the action and lack thereof, we must ask ourselves a question. What am I doing with my life?

For seniors, especially, decisions are waiting to be made. Are you going to college? If so, where? When? What classes will you take? What are you going to major in? If not, what are you going to do? Work? Where? Will you be happy doing that for very much of yoru life?

It’s not only us asking these questions of ourselves, there are plenty of other people asking. Whether it’s family, friends, teachers, counselors; other people are interested and seem to expect we have all the answers.

But, let’s be honest, here. In most cases, if you’re seventeen or eighteen years old, you really don’t know. For the past thirteen years, we’ve gone to school. It’s one of the few things we really know at this stage in our lives. Most people priobably don’t want to have to sit down, figure all of this out, and then put those plans into actions. We’d much rather do things like; hang out with friends, watch TV, listen to music, have fun, and sleep. Anything other than what’s hanging over our heads, really.

So, the enxt time anyone asks you, “What are you doing with your life?”, tell them to chill out. This is something you must figure out, and you will, all in good time. You don’t want to rush it, you have your whole life to live it. Prepare for and look forward to the future, but enjoy life the way it is right now, too. Don’t miss out on the present because you’re too preoccupied with the future. Cherish every part of life.
